Russell Westbrook’s Retirement

      My favorite player, the reason I started watching the NBA, all-time legend and in my opinion the greatest point guard Russell Westbrook. I was 11 years old when I first started watching in 2015, and now I am 23, watching you retire. 

      I can’t put into words how watching Russel Westbrook's game inspired and motivated me, from watching him in OKC, in Houston, in LA, in Denver, from him being betrayed by former teammates in OKC to after all those years being a part of the reason Denver did well in the 25 playoffs. Seeing Russell Westbrook retire hits hard. I don’t want to be cliché, but it feels like I lost something knowing he isn’t in the league anymore; it truly feels like the end of an era, because it is. 

      I won’t forget the feeling of seeing my favorite player give it 110% with true heart and competitive drive every regular season game; his MVP season, I'd argue he should have won two more, and he is one of the only people that deserves a ring but never got it. He 100% deserves to have his jersey retired in OKC. The NBA is not going to be the same without you, and there will never be another you. Congratulations, and enjoy retirement, GOAT.
